ABOUT Leroy Anderson & The Typewriter
Leroy Anderson was an American composer of short, light concert pieces, many of which were introduced by the Boston Pops Orchestra under the direction of Arthur Fiedler.
John Williams described him as "one of the great American masters of light orchestral music."
The composer Leroy Anderson wrote The Typewriter, for orchestra and typewriter, in 1950. It has since been used as the theme for numerous radio programs. The solo instrument is a real typewriter played by a percussionist.
For "The Typewriter" a percussionist would mime working on a typewriter while the orchestra played.
